The Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Florida is in hot water once again after a woman went into cardiac arrest because of an incorrectly administered drug. Laura Mack, 25, suffered a heart attack after epinephrine was injected into a vein instead of her muscle. Intravenous injection of epinephrine is known to cause cardiac arrest. Mack checked into the medical center on December 1, 2001 with a case of hives.
The incident was the health center's second major medical error in three days. Dorothy Cooper died November 29 in the hospital's emergency room after she was left unattended for four hours.
