Creatine May Prevent Sports Injury

December 23, 2001

According to a new study conducted by researchers at Arkansas State University, creatine, a substance widely suspected of causing health problems, may actually reduce the risk of injury for athletes who take the energy-boosting supplement. Mike Greenwood compared Arkansas State baseball players who use creatine with players who do not. Team members using the supplement had fewer injuries and more energy. Performance levels also increased in creatine users. Skeptics say that the supplement still poses health risks and that more research must be conducted before any definitive conclusions can be drawn.
