The California Supreme Court ruled last week that storeowners may be liable for hazardous conditions on their property if the dangerous item is not removed within a reasonable amount of time. The ruling involved a slip and fall accident at a California Kmart. Richard Ortega filed suit when he injured his knee after slipping on a puddle of milk inside the store. The court's decision still requires that California slip-and-fall injury victims prove that the defendant failed to act in a reasonable manner.
