An Illinois appeals court ruled this week that the families of five people murdered by Chicago gang members could file suit against the manufacturers and distributors of the guns used in the shootings. However, Justice William Cousins denied the families' request to file similar public nuisance suits against other gun makers whose products were not used in the killings. Bryco Arms, Navegar Inc., and Smith & Wesson Corp. were all named in the lawsuit as well as dealers Breit & Johnson Sporting Goods Inc. and Chuck's Gun Shop.
