Attorneys representing the family of a slain Columbine High School student who was allegedly shot by a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy will formally request that U.S. Attorney John Suthers begin a Federal grand jury investigation into the matter. Federal and County prosecutors announced last week that they would no longer pursue an investigation into the boy's death.
Daniel Rohrbough's family claims officials covered up the accidental shooting. Colorado's governor has endorsed the use of a grand jury saying that it may "be helpful in resolving the continuing controversies surrounding Columbine." Celine Marquez, a school administrator, says an officer told her days after the shooting that he may have killed an innocent student.
