California Woman Struck by Car Awarded $8 Million

A California judge awarded a woman $8 million last week for injuries she suffered after being hit by a car in August 2000. Geri Rivard was taking a morning walk in Los Gatos, California when Blake Abacherli's car cut a corner and struck Rivard as she crossed the street. Rivard was thrown over forty feet, suffering severe brain injuries as a result. She was in a coma for a short time.
