A California Jeep Grand Cherokee owner suffered minor injuries recently when his Cherokee unexpectedly shifted into reverse, pinning him behind the car. "Looks like the Jeep popped into reverse by itself, . . . I suspect that engine vibration caused the lever to move into reverse and the Jeep then started to roll backward," he said. "I think this is dangerous and should be checked out," wrote the man in a complaint sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The agency has pledged to look into the situation.
