Kolcraft LiteSport Strollers Recalled

August 16, 2001

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued yet another recall of baby strollers, this time the Kolcraft LiteSport. The recall of over 115,000 strollers comes after several reports of infant injuries were made to the CPSC. According to government officials, the lock mechanisms, which can be found on both sides of the baby strollers, can break, causing the stroller to suddenly collapse and possibly injure a child. Kolcraft Enterprises, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois has reported 124 instances where the lock mechanism failed, causing 22 injuries. The injuries include scrapes, cuts, and bruises.

All LiteSport strollers with the model number 36122 have been recalled. The stroller was sold nationwide between December 1997 and December 2000 for approximately $30. Kolcraft has asked that all consumers who have purchased this product discontinue using it immediately and call Kolcraft to receive a free repair kit. Consumers should call Kolcraft toll-free at (800) 922-2130.
