Water Balloon Slingshots

Each year there are over 1,500 reported injuries linked to water balloons. Most injuries involve the use of dangerous water balloon launchers, which use thick, heavy rubber bands to catapult balloons hundreds of feet (some companies advertise up to 1/8 of a mile) at speeds ranging from 60 to over 80 miles per hour, depending on the size of the balloon.

Safety groups warn that water balloon slingshots have the potential to cause severe injuries, especially to a child's ocular region. Hundreds of children have suffered orbital wall fractures, hemorrhaging and contusions after being struck with a water balloon launched from a slingshot. There have also been numerous reports of the rubber band snapping and striking a child's eye. Several unfortunate cases of eye damage have led to blindness.

If your child has been a victim of a dangerous toy product, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
